I bought some beer at the supermarket today, as they have an outstanding craft beer selection. Then something happened that I hadn’t experienced for more than a decade – I got ID’d! I laughed all the way home.

Mum: “There’s some computer stuff up stairs. Could you go through it and tell me what you want to keep?” Me: “Woah.”
Star Trek: Lower Decks looks like Final Space.
The first third of 2020 crawled. But May and June just evaporated.
Success! I’ve implemented my custom comments section on my website. Have a look at this page for an example. I need to adjust the css so it’s a little more readable, but it works!
Now to see if I can turn this rough proof of concept into a useable theme template.
Now most peope in most countries are wearing masks, can we also agree that everyone should wear a name tag too?
A lot of people are pouring into Hey email. I get about 3 emails a day. So classic email is still my jam.
I’m watching the Star Trek: Voyager double episode Future’s End, where they’re transported “back” to 1996 Los Angeles (it was filmed in 1996 or 1997). In 2020 it feels like being transported way back in time too.
I’ve managed to fully customise replies on micro.blog. Now to implement them on my site and get the css tweaked. Then to write up instructions so everyone can do it!
An incredibly useful automation I just made. I prefer to run in low power mode so I can skip recharhing every other day. This counters the phone switching it off when it gets to 80% charge.
If you have an iPad app in the App Store right now and it doesn’t have keyboard shortcuts, please attach a keyboard to your iPad and use it for an hour.
I had difficulty at first understanding this article. Then it clicked - the UK invested in internet satellites to replace GPS satellites. Which is like buying a catapult to replace a cargo bicycle.
‘We’ve bought the wrong satellites’: UK tech gamble baffles experts.
I really wouldn’t mind a new old school-style Star Trek series with limited special effects, classic sci fi story telling and twenty six episodes per season.
Continuing to ruin the world

My left hamstring has been giving me grief for over a month. I’ve been trying to stretch to no avail. Tried a different stretch yesterday and just like that, all the pain is gone. Human bodies are weird.
Ever wondered why cashew nuts are so expensive? It may be because each individual cashew is the seed of a cashew apple. And before they’re shelled and roasted, they look like this.
This is so sad. The rail ride through Taieri Gorge is incredible. Taieri Gorge is as breathtaking a site as the Grand Canyon in my geological opinion.
Taieri Gorge Railway line is mothballed
My enduring question from Star Trek: Picard is WHERE WERE THOSE HORRIFIC ROBOT TENTACLES COMING FROM!?
Bets on Apple branding their own Mac CPUs as Core?
You know, that WWDC keynote was insanely well produced. Why not just do that from now on? No hooting from the crowd, no awkward demos from third parties, just pure information presented insanely well.
The presentation by Apple regarding the switch to ARM said the transition for all their hardware will take a couple of years. And I reckon that’ll be about the time I’d be thinking about upgrading my 2015 5K iMac. Or just retiring it and going iPad and iPhone only…
How long until there’s XCode on the iPad do you reckon?
Gasp! Foundation as a TV series!!
I thought the Star Trek: Voyager episode Tuvix was goong to be hilarious. It was, instead, horrific.
Apple should call their AR glasses eyePods.
