I’m just going to turn off the news until 2025.
I’m just going to turn off the news until 2025.
I’ve come to a time in my life where my last non stick pan is now super stick. And I’m going to get a cast iron pan. Can anyone recommend a brand that’s not $1000 for a single skillet, but is still high quality?
Last night my iPhone warned me my own AirPods had been tracking me. It felt like Ned Flanders telling Lovejoy he was worried that he was coveting his own wife.
Pasting and dragging images in Windows makes no sense to me.
You copy and paste an image, it’s copied into an email. You drag the image from one email to another and it references a local image cache file on your PC. WTF? I’ve never had this issue in macOS because a drag is a copy paste.
I’ve cobbled together a raid1 array with a couple of USB drives. Currently copying data over, around 2TB. It reckons it’ll take ~10 days over WiFi. My calculation now is, do I get a USB-C to Ethernet adaptor delivered and transfer that way, or do I let it ride. Which will be quicker…
Urgh. Fine. I’ll do my tax return. But if the IRD is reading this, let me be clear: I absolutely love making spreadsheets.
I way there was an iPad Pro mini.
Our tickets are raised by a pack of wolves.
Going through subscriptions to trim my spending. Disney+, which was $120 per annum in 2023, and rose to $150 this year, will be one hundred and ninety of the lord’s own New Zealand dollars come 2025.
I’m this →| |← close to cancelling and just binging for a month here and there.
I wish more TV shows and movie franchises would just break with canon. James Bond is a good example of this working. It’d work for the likes of Star Trek too. Just tell stories. Weirdo nerds be damned.
If you go to bed with enough time to get a full night sleep, and sleep, you wake up feeling OK and your brain works better.
I just came up with this new thought technology life hack all by myself.
I brew beer as a hobby. Sometimes (but definitely not always) I get drinkable beer as a bonus to share with my friends. Anyway, the brewing is the hobby. And I’m a data nerd so of course I have the fermentation visualised.
Asia-Pacific is about as meaningless a grouping as is possible. Like, 18 time zones, 2/3 of the planet and all four hemispheres (all six if you include the land and water hemispheres).
Makes as much sense as the ethnic grouping in NZ of MELAA - Middle Eastern/Latin American/African.
The problem with Star Wars is Star Wars fans.
Walt Disney presents the Star Wars story The Acolyte is… good? Like, characters, an actual story and good acting and editing?
Just watched the final of Star Trek: Discovery. I’m sad it got cancelled. But so happy they got the chance to wrap it up at the end.
Now I want Star Trek Academy (which is still confirmed?) and a series with Rayner as captain. And maybe a ministries of the life and adventures of “Dr Kovich”?
Episode 2 of the Disney Doctor Who was… really bad. It was embarrassing to watch.
Remember in the early 2000s when comedy could be summed up as “yelling”? Bad times.
Some light weight existentialism for you. How Big Is The Universe?.
I played Drying-The-Sheets-On-The-Washing-Line-in-May Roulette, and lost.
I get the feeling the person who writes Connections has run out of ideas.

Damn. I’ve run in to that iMessage not syncing across devices issue. Had it a few years ago and it resolved itself I think, but after a few months. Weirdly I can see messages on my watch, but they don’t show up in my phone 🤷🏻♂️ Frustrating.
This makes me uncomfortable. What’s the play to get his funders more government cash? Pharmac’s budget boosted to $6.3b over next four years.
Aotearoa home brewers: where you you shop for your ingredients? There’s no homebrew shops left in Pōneke, so I’m talking about online. Would prefer someone who stocks grains that aren’t Gladfield.
The last thing I’ll be saying on my deathbed is “At least I’m at inbox zero.” Because it doesn’t matter.
