Why is search in Jira so bad!? Like, “I want ticket number 1234.” “sorry mate, never heard of that” “PROJ-1234” “oh, right. Sure. Here’s PROJ-1342.”
I’m watching last week tonight and oh no. He’s about to talk about New Zealand. 😔
Ban. Fireworks.
Delaying the inevitable. Hope the next strongly Green government pulls funding from motorways and redirects it to these essential pieces of safety infrastructure. Waka Kotahi puts funding for cycling, walking and public transport initiatives on hold
Preparing for final results of the election. It’s going to be either horrific with Aotearoa getting its most right wing government, maybe ever, or its most hilariously chaotic. Results in 40 minutes.
The fact that the Mystery Jets song Two Doors Down has a sax solo but not a drum solo is a musical crime.
Bike people: has anyone out there done a drive train replacement? It seems reasonably straight forward from the YouTube videos I’ve seen. Last time I got the bike shop to do it it cost me almost a grand, which seems way too high.
Sure sex is great, but have you ever seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, or C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate?
Last week I ticked over to 5,000 km on my Benno Boost. It’s been my car for two and a half years and it’s fantastic. And now I’m getting very into maintaining it, it’s even better. Would like a slightly lighter run around, though.
Left my glasses at home for the first time since getting them. Luckily I can survive without them (and had done so for a few years I reckon). But man I’m going to be wiped tonight. Time to get some cheap work emergency backup specs.
I thought the speedometer on my bike was broken. Missing the wheel going by the sensor a third to a half of the time… But turns out somehow my speedo had switched from km/h to miles/h. Back to sensible speeds being displayed.
A thrilling match only seconded by the last World Cup final. No shame in this one for the Black Caps. A single extra boundary would have done it.
In the most kiwi accent: “And to talk about the Rugby World Cup final, we’re now joined by Rodney Southland, our sports reporter in Paris.” “Wee! Bone swar, everyone. It’s shaping up…”
Pōneke people: that heavy cold rain and hail that’s being predicted? My scouts with a view south confirm it’s on its way. Hold on to your butts.
Nothing sweeter than closing support tickets because the people who lodged them haven’t bothered to get back to you. Can’t be that big an issue! Qapla,!
Lots of buildings swaying in the wind today. Rocking back and forth at my desk. Wonder what it’s like at the top of the building, 10 floors up.
At the risk of causing an international incident: tell me what you call this object and which country you’re from.
Once these augmented glasses become affordable and fast, I know what I’ll be doing. I’ll put a set on and line up some TV to watch. I’ll lie down on the couch and instantly go to sleep.
I’ve put on my shorts and jandals. Do I dare to dream?
Very high UV index today. There’s going to be a lot of sunburnt people back at work tomorrow.
I implore New Zealand’s media to, please, not attempt casual French while the World Cup is on in France. I’m very forgiving of pronunciation because it’s a difficult accent and language. But good lord. “meersee boo-koo”.
Wikipedia is worth donating to if you use it. But really, companies like Apple, Microsoft and google, who use the site as a reference for their searches, should be pumping whatever meagre amounts of money Wikipedia needs to keep functioning, into the foundation.
Tom Cardy - Repress it!
One downside of switching off Twitter and using Micro.blog/Mastodon/Bluesky is there’s no easy way to upload videos of terrible drivers on my commute. I have one from today where someone overtook me while I was going down the Brooklyn hill at the speed limit. Insane.
