I watched Prospect on Netflix last night. Not a great film. One of those sci-fis that went to great lengths universe-building and then refused to show you much of it. The story is ultimately dull and pointless.

🏏 Regarding the apparent disbelief there seems to be around New Zealand beating India. India were tipped to be the favourites, but a tight game going either way between the world’s number 2 and number 3 ranked teams shouldn’t be a shock. It just wasn’t India’s day(s).
🏏 New Zealand are through to the Cricket World Cup final. I’d prefer we played England, so I’m backing England to beat Australia in the next game. Although beating Australia in the final would be especially sweet.
🏏 @pratik Holy moly that was a close one. Could have gone either way. I was listening to it in bed and my heart is still thumping against my chest. What a game.
Who else is betting that Amazon is going to time the release of The Expanse season 4 so it’s back-to-back with season 1 of Star Trek: Picard? 🖖🏼
🏏 No matter who wins the NZ v Ind semi final, it’ll be regarded as unfair by the other side. Splitting a semi final across two days like this just isn’t cricket. But if Aotearoa manages to eek out a win, I’m all for it. If they lose, it’s a travesty!
Is it time to declare Matariki a public holiday?
Yes! Aotearoa should be embracing its own tikanga and give up on rubbish celebrations like Guy Fawkes.
The Auckland housing crisis is so bad, it’s punched its way through spacetime to 1971. I am simultaneously appalled by the racism and impressed with how open this article is about racism.
🏏 We farted our way in the semis, and we’ll fart our wat into the final (against England?) 🇳🇿
Wellington is really embracing the scooter life.
🏏 Although to be fair, the Blackcaps are through to the semi finals now (unless a miracle happens in the Bangladesh v Pakistan game). We’ll get trounced by Australia, but at least we farted our way into the top four. We have so much work to do on our batting…
🏏 Just woke up to look at the score. Good lord. Pack your bags boys and come home. That was disgraceful.
🏏 May my beloved Black Caps crush the English like they dis at the last world cup.
Dry July is ridiculous. If you want to reduce the amount you drink, do so as a matter of course. If you’re concerned you drink too much, drink less. Limit yourself to 1 drink, 3 days a week, but don’t think going cold turkey for just one month a year is going to help long term.
Hey microbloggers! Are there any other homebrewers (microbrewers?) or brew curious people out there? We could share tips and details of our latest brews 🌡💦🌾🧪🥬⏳🍺
Bottled my latest yesterday. A Belgian blonde I got terrible efficiency on (Robobrew and impatience sparging).
Upset about the plastic crisis? Stop trying so hard. Basically, if you’re worried about the plastic crisis, stop buying plastic.
🏏 That Blackcaps v Australia game seemed like the Blackcaps v Australia game in the pool matches in 2015 (when we wasted them), but ended like the Blackcaps v Australia game in the 2015 final (when they wasted us). Our batting is just not up to scratch.
Had a mid winter Christmas dinner last night. That may seeem like a redundant term to you in the Northern Hemisphere, but it’s the middle of winter here in June. Eating roasts and glazed ham in December when it’s 28°C is an embarrassing traditionalist colonial stupidity.
But how will I be kept abreast of Caeser’s conquests in the Barbarian hinterland?
Oh no. This was always going to be a tough game for the Black Caps, but holy crap, fellas.
Nothing beats a fire on a cold winters day. It feels offensively luxurious.
Speaking of 10 litre batches, I’ve been researching fermenters. There’s small carboys that’d do the job, but holy hell what a hassle they look to clean (boo ecosystem poisoning chemicals!). I’m contemplating making a small fermenter from a 12 litre stainless steel stock pot.
I am getting more determined to start brewing smaller batches of beer. My equipment, and general homebrewing, defaults to pumping out 21 litre batches. And that’s just too much beer. My new batch sizes will be 10 litres 🍻
🏏 The Black Caps didn’t deserve that one. Well played Pakistan.
Amazon delivery date estimates to Aotearoa are as hilarious as Microsoft copying time from the 90s. They’re either a week early or a month late.
