It’s almost summer, so I’m brewing my essential summer beer, Raspberry Rebellion – a wheat beer that I dry-hop with raspberries. It’s low ABV, slightly sweet, a little tart and incredibly delicious on a hot summer day. Here’s the recipe.

Oh yay, it’s the 5th of November, so a bunch of inconsiderate shitbags will be letting off fireworks for the next three months.
Je comprends mauvais français. Bon français est plus difficile a comprends pour moi.
(Just listening to some English speakers struggle their way through French and it’s painful, but easy to understand).
That’s enough internet-induced anxiety for me today. Hope you all get a decent sleep.
I’ve muted all relevant words on Twitter, and closed all news sites on my browsers. I’m listening to music from the 90s. Today is going to be relaxing. I’m not going to be live tracking a major event. I have m mental health to think about.
Was just lucky enough to see the ISS fly over thanks to some fortunate gaps in the clouds. Humans can do amazing things when they work together.
Drinking Espresso from the 1950s - hilarious.
I have a solution to the Fermi Paradox: the Drake Equation, on which it’s based, is all guess work and one of the numbers is simply so close to zero that intelligent life is vanishingly unlikely.
Gastro bugs are the universe proving there’s no higher power.
I’m not a huge Star Wars fan. But one of the things I really like about Star Wars is there’s no universal translator. You have to know another culture’s language. Star Trek lacks this cultural diversity in everyone being able to speak English*

I put my poor Raspberry Pi Zero W under such horrible load. I just thrash it and get annoyed it’s so slow. I know I should have something snappier, but size-wise it’s tough to beat something that small. Maybe I should upgrade to a RPi 4 or something snappier.
As per the previous post, I used this guide to install WireGuard on my Raspberry Pi. Bonus: PiVPN knows about PiHole, so it’ll get them hooked up for ad-free internet goodness if you have PiHole installed.
If you’re after a self-hosted VPN, use Wireguard (it’s free and open source!). I’ve been having a lot of issues with OpenVPN and the weird Teleport app that my Ubiquiti Amplifi router uses. Wireguard just seems to work as expected.
Any Fastmail users out there? I need to know if a single $5/month plan will give me multiple domain name aliases or not.
I’ve broken out my evening leisure singlet. We’re getting to summer levels of humidity in the mighty Manawatu this evening.
We gave my mum an old iPhone and now my phone is just constantly buzzing with an endless stream of Memojis
A bit of a shame, but it should be in control centre as a core OS functionality. Apple Removes ‘TV Remote’ App in Favour of Control Centre Feature.
New episode of Star Trek: Discovery tonight! Eeeee!
As mentioned, sometimes home brew doesn’t work out
A beer I brewed was ready and I opened a bottle. Last time I brewed this it was amazing (it won a home brew competition). This time it’s utter garbage. Something went terrible wrong. I was really looking forward to this one. Sad face.
These crazy people made a functioning lightsaber by creating a column of plasma from burning propane.
Reeder 5 is an instant buy for me.
When my computer kernel panics and shuts down overnight, which happens a few times a year, I like to add helpful descriptions before reporting it to Apple.
It is so frustrating having shows on Netflix that you know are in lots of different languages, but they only ever offer the English version.
I hate cars and all the ways they’ve ruined our cities and planet.
